...make me reconsider my desire for a RWD BMW...yeah I know you can get xDrive (don't want it), and yeah I know a set of winter rubber will make all the difference. And I still may get one anyway...I'm just sayin'

Oh I've been driving RWD BMW's since for ever all winter long in Minnesota, you'll be fine!

I think it's because I've never owned a RWD car before...and I have fond memories of my Subie LGT in the snow giving exactly zero fucks (not really I was still careful, but had a lot more confidence)

Just don't freak out while driving, and you'll be fine.

This seems like a tragedy. Rwd+snow tires= Colin Mcrae impersonation on demand.

No problems in michigan with RWD. Rear drive is best drive, esp. in winter.

How much garage space do you have? If you have enough space to get 2 cars you could get this now for $10K

Then later get a fun 2 seater.

You probably grew up learning to deal with that weather. In NJ snow doesn't come often...and I've never owned a RWD car before. So my confidence isn't there.

Honestly, this winter I've been finding out this year that (for me at least), 4WD and AWD cars are more of a pain in the ass in the snow than RWD, because when they do slide, all four wheels are driven and you get this idiotic four-wheel understeer that is unpredictable and sometimes downright dangerous. I'd rather have RWD and snow tires.

Practice makes perfect, and I have to assume you are a hell of a lot more mature than myself when I was a teenager. To be truthful my first 4 winters were in jeeps, so I would hoon in 2wd than pop it into 4 when I got stuck. But one winter, I think when I was 18, I had balding tires, and part way through the winter I broke my front dif.
If a teenager can make it through a Michigan winter in a 2wd jeep with bald tires, you will be all right sir.

EDIT: Also if it doesn't snow that often, than it would rarely be a 'problem' anyways!

Nah, I live in northern Michigan, where the weather always looks like my favorite stuff.

Well your snow hoon days as a teen actually made you a better driver...I didn't have too many of those in my 92 Lumina.

RWD with snow tires is fine, I had Toyo Proxes on my front wheels and studded snows on the back for awhile on my E30, it was fun.

Well you too sir can learn the ways of oversteer with the low price of whatever-BMW-you-are-considering-for-purchase.
